Medetai... What is this word?
In a special happy occasion such as...
Weddings, a New baby born,
people would say,

" It`s really Medetai !!"

It`s a word for Celebration!
And we eat grilled Pacific Red Snapper in those special occasions.
Pacific Red Snapper is "Tai" in Japanese.
Red Snapper is one of the Japanese icons as well.
Ebisu-no-Kami  in Seven Happy god is riding on
the Red snapper.

My daughter really loves this traditional Japanese icon of Tai. She found some illustrations of Tai from vintage Japanese magazines dating from the 70s.
Then she traced it with projector and next, she painted it with a stencil with white ink on a mustered color fabric which is left over
from when she made Shinai bukuro (Hatsu haru). But this Tenugui is for her father.
This Tenugui is also cut out with larger size.
She really worked hard for this one.

The Red snapper art avobe the Tenugui is called Gyotaku.

and a piece of art paper, and desired color water based paint.
Put disposal glove on if you need. You have to handle fish.

2.Lay some news paper on the working table surface.
   Lay the art paper aside.

3,Wash the fish and suck up moisture with paper towel in sink.

4, Place your fish on the news paper,

5, Apply some water based paint with blush all over
   just on one side.
Black color makes best result. Don`t apply to much.

6, Hold the fish, and stamp on the paper. press the fish towards
the every fish edge to stamp well.

7, Stamp it again as your desired design.
